Student Education Conference

LITE is proud to be responsible for the University's annual Student Education Conference (SEC). Held every January, the conference brings together our community of staff and students who are committed to positive change to the learning and teaching experience through research, scholarship and innovation.

SEC2025: 9-10 January

Did you miss SEC2024?

Want to listen again to the inspirational student panel? Couldn’t get to all of the parallel sessions you were interested in? Would you like to hear from our keynote speaker Paul Ashwin, discussing whether Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) can transform educational policies and practices?

The recordings of all the sessions are now available to University of Leeds colleagues on SEC Rewind.

SEC2023

Our two-day hybrid conference focussed on the topic of ‘A Curriculum for the Future – Rising to Grand Challenges’. The recordings of all the sessions are now available to view on SEC Rewind.

SEC2022

The Covid pandemic and the challenges of adapting to a new way of working and delivering the student education experience has placed sense of belonging at the heart of discussions around student education. The theme of 'Belonging and Community' seemed an appropriate choice for the 2022 conference.

The standout for many was the student voice, whether from students delivering parallel and snap sessions or the inspiring and thought provoking student panel.

SEC2021

To support our community in reflecting on and sharing lessons from the experiences of adapting to remote learning the theme for 2021 was 'Lessons from a hybrid teaching world'.

There was a record turnout for the 40 parallel and snap sessions, all delivered online, as well as the keynote presentation from Prof. Tansy Jessop, Pro Vice Chancellor for Education, University of Bristol.
