- Location
- Leeds Institute for Teaching Excellence
As a Higher Education Research and Support Officer, Hayley provides guidance to LITE fellows whilst also conducting her own research in PedRes/ SoTL. Acting as a sounding board for ideas, Hayley enjoys supporting LITE fellows throughout their unique research journeys, from developing their approach to research methods to thinking about how to disseminate findings and create impact.
Hayley had worked at LITE in 2023 as a research assistant before becoming a Lecturer in Education at the University of Huddersfield. Hayley is excited to return to LITE and believes her time spent lecturing strengthened her understanding of the student experience in Higher Education and will inform her approach to supporting LITE fellows.
Before being involved with HE, Hayley’s professional background was initially in early childhood education working in a range of educational settings with a particular focus on outdoor education and later working with children with autism. She completed her PhD in Education at the University of Huddersfield in 2024. Her research focused on Forest School pedagogy using participant observations and photo elicitation with Forest School leaders. Her experience in alternative approaches to education that encourage learner centred pedagogy drives her passion for PedRes/SoTL and creative research methods.
Hayley is interested in sustainable education and inclusive education at the University of Leeds. She has a focus on meta research into SoTL and is particularly interested in the development of SoTL communities.
