Post-Plagiarism in Higher Education: Teaching, feedback and assessment in the age of AI

How should universities respond to a world where AI-generated writing is increasingly indistinguishable from human work?

This one-day event, hosted by the Leeds Institute for Teaching Excellence (LITE), brings together international and institutional perspectives to explore how higher education can move beyond detection-driven approaches to academic integrity and towards more ethical, transparent, and pedagogically meaningful practices.

Featuring a keynote from Sarah Elaine Eaton (Werklund School of Education, University of Calgary), the event introduces the concept of post-plagiarism as a framework for rethinking teaching, feedback, and assessment in an AI-mediated context. The programme also includes a research-informed framework from Beatriz Moya-Figueroa (Institute of Applied Ethics, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile), alongside institutional perspectives and interactive discussions.

Participants will have the opportunity to:

• explore how AI is reshaping assessment practices across disciplines
• reflect on evolving notions of authorship, originality, and responsibility
• engage with emerging frameworks for ethical and transparent AI integration
• contribute to conversations about institutional futures in the era of AI
