Assessment Matters: Assessing Group Work- Challenges and Opportunities

In the latest event in the Assessment Matters series, curated and led by Pam Birtill (Academic Lead for Leeds Expectations for Assessment and Feedback), we will be looking at Assessing Group Work.

Group work is often employed in active learning, and as an approach to authentic assessment. However, group work is not always inclusive. Developing inclusive practices around groupwork are essential in promoting equity and building a supportive learning environment for all students. During this session, we will explore the challenges and barriers that students may face when working in groups, and discuss strategies to promote inclusion and enhance teamwork skills. We will explore what we are assessing when we use group work, and how this relates to competence standards.
