Professional Service Scholarship Celebration

Date
Date
Wednesday 7 June 2023, 1:00pm - 4:30pm
Location
Esther Simpson LG.08 and hybrid on MS Teams

There is a burgeoning culture of scholarship taking place within the professional services at Leeds, and, at LITE (Leeds Institute for teaching Excellence) we want to celebrate, nurture, and promote it!

On the afternoon of Wednesday 7th June we would like to invite anyone based in a professional service to showcase their work to a broad audience from across the institution. The emphasis throughout will be on celebrating our scholarship, networking with likeminded people and learning from others. Although we will be showcasing work carried out within the Professional Services, we welcome all colleagues to attend and learn from the work being carried out, we will publish a full programme in due course.

The Scholarship we want to showcase is evidence-based Scholarship of Teaching and Learning. This can be anything that you have for which you have collected and analysed data to inform policy or best practice going forward. This can include but isn’t limited to:

  • A specific project that you’ve been working on that has collected data that you’ve analysed.
  • Policies/changes to service provision that you’ve made based upon evaluations such as questionnaires, interviews or focus groups.
  • Schemes that you’ve implemented based upon evidence collected/disseminated by others. E.g. have you read an evidence-based paper or article that you’ve learned from? or have you connected with someone at a conference and developed your practice as a result?

If you have carried out a project like this, we’d like to invite you to present a 5 minute lightning presentation followed by a short 5 minutes for questions. The talks can be about completed or ongoing projects and there’s no need for the talks to be too polished – off the cuff will be fine!

If you can’t make it on the day, we’ll also be happy to showcase short video presentations.

This will be a hybrid event where presentations will be streamed via Teams, and presenters are welcome to present via Teams. However, we would love it if you could join us in person for what will be an enjoyable community-building afternoon with lunch, tea, coffee....and cake! There will also be an optional visit to the Library pub afterwards and everyone is welcome to join.

If you would like to present a talk or to come along to see the presentations, please fill in this form by Tuesday May 16th. If you would like to present, all we ask for is a short title for your presentation.
