Mature Student Awarding Gaps

About the student researcher

I am in my third year of studying (MSci) Nutrition. I am really pleased to be able to contribute research to the really important topic of mature student awarding gaps because I am passionate about higher education being available to all. I am from a working class background, a first generation student, and a mature student.

Project overview

The aim of the project was to analyse common themes in the experiences of mature students and related these themes to degree outcomes. I spent time collating existing literature in order to identify areas of focus; this was summarised into a short literature review which was inserted into the final report. This was followed by the designing of a survey to collect the experiences to analyse and discuss in the final report.
