Wednesday 12 May 2021, 10am-11:30am

LITE Fellows Niamh Mullen and Peter Matthews invite colleagues to their Fellowship Showcase, which will focus on considering comprehension in lectures from a student perspective.

Niamh and Peter will begin with an activity that will allow us to think about areas which might pose a challenge to students’ comprehension in lectures. The workshop will then move on to activities that will enable attendees to discuss and share practice and strategies that can help to support and check student comprehension. Student and tutor data collected for the LITE Academic Listening Project will be introduced at intervals for consideration and to demonstrate the growing evidence base in the field.

The first 60 minutes of this session will be in a workshop format, followed by 30 minutes for discussion.

This workshop will be of interest to any colleagues who teach students whose first language is not English. It will also be of interest to colleagues more broadly who are interested in making their teaching practice more inclusive.
