The LITE Mentoring Scheme provides a framework of support for colleagues starting out or moving into research or scholarship in student education at the University of Leeds.
The scheme provides mentoring for those who want to pursue scholarship and research into student education. The scheme will support mentees to move beyond reflection, practice-sharing and report writing to more rigorous research. Advice may include support for developing project ideas; putting together funding applications; understanding and implementing research methods; research ethics, project management; impact evaluation and dissemination and publication routes such as journals, networks and conferences.
The suggested time commitment is a 1-2 hour mentor – mentee meeting three to four times per year for an initial 1 year. This may vary dependent on the need, capacity and practicality from both mentor and mentee perspectives.
Colleagues with experience in the pedagogic research process are invited to volunteer to become a mentor. Colleagues who are interested in accessing additional support or advice are invited to apply to become a mentee.
The scheme will complement other LITE activities designed to support pedagogic research and the University’s mentoring programme run by Organisational Development and Professional Learning.
Applications are closed for the moment whilst we get our new intake of mentors and mentees underway but will open again soon.
