Funding for pedagogical research events offered longer term

Date

A SUCCESSFUL funding pilot to support events around the scholarship of teaching and learning has been rolled out on a longer term basis by the Leeds Institute for Teaching Excellence (LITE).

The  Supporting PedR Fund, which aims to provide up to £400 per bid for staff to deliver an event promoting research into student education within schools, faculties or across discipline areas at the University of Leeds, will now be available on an ongoing basis.

Funding, for example, can be used to provide refreshments or guest speaker expenses.

Professor Tina Overton, Director at LITE, said:

The strong response we've had to the LITE Supporting PedR Fund is further testament to the University of Leeds' growing, vibrant and experienced community of pedagogic researchers, so rolling out this pilot on a longer term basis fits LITE's role to support and nurture these networks.

"We had an overwhelmingly positive response to our first and recent Getting Started in Pedagogic Research workshop. Attendees told us they wanted more opportunities to share ideas and network, often at a local level with colleagues from the same discipline areas.

"This modest funding is in direct response to that, to encourage those interested in pedagogic research to explore their ideas and potentially form collaborations, hopefully progressing their project ideas in to reality."

The event must facilitate and support pedagogic research activity.

A brief event summary report must be completed and returned to LITE within two weeks of the event taking place in order to demonstrate impact of LITE funding.

A template will be provided.

And LITE should be cited at the event, promotional pop up banners, materials and slides can be provided.
