Leeds Curriculum

The Leeds Curriculum provides a flexible learning journey, designed to challenge, engage and equip students for the future through three key elements: research-based learning, core programme threads and broadening.

Research based learning

At the heart of the Leeds Curriculum is the opportunity for research-based learning. Our students develop their research skills and awareness, which are then applied when they co-design and produce a final-year project. This is supervised and supported by academics who are specialists in their field.

Core programme threads

The core threads are fundamental values which run through all of our courses at different levels of study, enabling students to understand the link between their academic study and societal needs. The threads are ethics and responsibility, global and cultural insight, and employability.

Broadening

Students can broaden their academic experience by choosing from a wide range of modules which may be outside of their core subject area. They are grouped into 10 discovery themes, reflecting the global challenges that we investigate and the breadth of our interdisciplinary research.
